Module Introduction
We had online classes as for TOAA with Mr Koh Jing Hao who is our tutor for this semester. This is the outcome of my study in this module. In this subject we have to investigate the relationship between Culture, History, Architecture Design, Construction and What makes their distinctive identity etc. In this module, we studied the Historical development of Architecture in Asia. This module mainly explores history of South, Southeast and East Asian architecture as a whole through key themes of sustainability, tradition and modernity & globalisation. The weekly lecture and projects will establish a basic theoretical apparatus to the examination of specific cases.
Project 1: Reading the Context of Traditional Streets
Part 1
This project shows the importance of reading “lexicons” of traditional streets through the tangible qualities of architecture and space, and the intangible socio-cultural attributes. To understand the specific contexts that construct the distinctive place identity and socio-cultural meanings of the traditional streets. All observations are to be captured in sketch journal and a written summary. The traditional street I decided to do a summary on is Chee Cheong Kai in Petaling Jaya.

Reflection
Throughout this project, I had learnt how to discuss the relationship between architecture and its social, cultural, and intellectual context within the Asian region especially in our country. The TGCS I implemented are lifelong learning, intrapersonal skills and digital literacy by studying independently and doing my own research to complete this assignment.
Part 2
For this project we were told to produce an infographic showing their understanding of vernacular and traditional architecture as discussed in the lectures. The traditional architecture I chose to do was Traditional chinese architecture.

Reflection
Throughout the project, I have learnt the ability to describe the historical development of vernacular architecture in the Asian region that responded to the indigenous contexts. The TGCS I implemented are lifelong learning skills as I had to do a lot of research on traditional chinese architecture.
Project 2: Research in Asian Architecture
For Project 2, we were tasked to work in groups to research and discuss significant issues to generate a critical understanding of tradition, modernity and globalisation in the Asian architectural contexts. Findings are to be presented in the form of a research poster and seminar presentation. My team members consisted of Chong Hui Wen, Cheong Kai Ying, Lim Xuan Yun, Ooi Zi En, Ong Khai Yun and myself.

Reflection
After accomplishing this project, I have learnt to describe the historical development of vernacular architecture in the Asian region that responded to the indigenous contexts as well as to interpret significant issues in relation to the development of contemporary Asian architecture based on themes of tradition, modernity and globalization. Besides that, the TCGS I acheived are interpersonal skills, self disipline and global perspectives and communication skills in this project by understanding the dynamic of a group and is aware of the diverse opinions of the group members by communicating to solve problems arose. Not only that, I am grateful to have good team members that are responsible and play their part to successfully finish this assignment.
